Designing the Pedestal:
Determine the shape, size, and height of the pedestal. The height should be at least 4 feet for your horse to easily step onto it without tripping. The width will depend on your horse’s hooves.
Building the Pedestal:
Cut the boards according to your chosen dimensions. Arrange the boards in the desired shape and attach them together using screws and nails. Ensure that the pedestal is level and square. Attach plywood to the top of the pedestal for a smooth surface for your horse to stand on. Sand the edges to ensure safety and comfort. Test the pedestal by placing your foot on it; if it feels stable and comfortable, it’s ready for your horse.
Maintenance and Safety:
Regularly check the pedestal for loose screws or nails and tighten them as needed. Clean the surface regularly to remove dirt or debris that could cause your horse to slip. Always prioritize safety when working with horses and follow necessary guidelines.
