Protected mode is a feature of Data Guard that ensures data integrity and availability during backup and recovery operations. However, sometimes you may need to temporarily disable this feature, for example during maintenance or testing.
Here’s how to change protected mode in Data Guard:
Step 1: Connect to the Data Guard Administration Console
-
Open the Data Guard Administration Console (DGMC) by logging in as a user with administrative privileges.
-
Click on the "Protection" tab in the left-hand menu.
-
Select the protected mode that you want to change from the list of available options.
Step 2: Temporarily Disable Protected Mode
-
In the "Settings" section, click on the "Advanced" button.
-
Scroll down to the "Protection Mode" section and select "Disable".
-
Click "OK" to confirm the change.
Step 3: Enable Protected Mode Again
-
Back in the "Settings" section, scroll back up to the "Protection Mode" section.
-
Select "Enable" and click "OK".
It’s important to note that disabling protected mode can potentially put your data at risk, so make sure you only do this when necessary and for a short period of time. Additionally, it’s recommended to test any changes in a non-production environment before applying them to your production system.
